We all have things in our lives that weigh us down, and for the most part we are pretty clear on what those things are. We know the struggles that make our “backpacks” heavy and hard to carry. But often, when we are married, we are not as clear about what is in our spouse’s “backpack”. And if we are not careful, we can forget they have one at all, or at the very least, we can think it is not as heavy as ours.
But the fact is that our spouses have a load of things that can weigh them down. Things that make their lives harder. And research shows that couples in great marriages have a clear awareness of what is going on with each other, including the things that are weighing them down.
Join us at Couples Cafe on Friday night, November 9th at 7pm for a fun night as we celebrate the ending of summer, concentrate on our marriages, and hear via video from Ted Lowe as he talks about carrying each others burdens.
Ted says: “Something happens relationally when we carry part of what is burdening our spouse. When we do chores for each other. When we listen to each other and acknowledge each other and help each other based on what we know—it’s super glue for our marriage.” —Ted Lowe
“What would happen in your house, in your marriage, if you got CLEAR on what is going on with your spouse and then did something to help them?” —Ted Lowe
