Our annual Vineyard Youth Winter Camp is fast approaching. We will be heading up to Big Bear on President's Day weekend, February 17-19, 2018. This trip is open to all current 6th-12th graders.
Winter Camp is a great opportunity for middle and high school students to join with other teenagers from Vineyard communities around SoCal and gather for spiritual growth, deepening of relationships, mountain memory-making, and maybe some snow!
The cost is $200 (early-bird). While a slightly higher cost than our Equip summer camp, we add the cost of professional transportation and facilities while there. We will be staying at Camp Cedar Lake. We don't want finances to prohibit participation, so partial financial aid is available to qualifying participants. If you're in need of financial assistance, please contact one of our youth pastors.
In our experience, trips like this one can include defining moments for your teenager's faith and spiritual growth. We encourage you to make this a priority and encourage your child to attend!
The cost will increase to $225 on January 1. Our total capacity is 45 (leaders & students combined). Register to reserve your spot.

Thinking About Getting Married?
We've got a Pre-Marriage Class for you!
Seven Sunday Afternoons Beginning February 18
Whether you're ready to start exploring marriage, engaged, or newly married, this class will allow you as a couple to establish the solid foundations on which to build your future. Led by Brad Bailey (Lead Pastor and licensed Marriage & Family therapist - M.F.T.), along with other couples, this interactive class will help you prepare for the practical challenges involved with unspoken expectations, communication, handling conflict, decision making, finances, spirituality, and sexual intimacy.
Registration deadline is Sunday, February 11.
Our Pre-Marriage Class provides an opportunity to explore the more complete foundations for a great marriage. You’ll have an opportunity to…
Hear those who have counseled many couples address each of the topics that are involved in marriage.
Explore more deeply your own approach to these topics – both personally and as a couple- through guided questions.
Hear married couples from diverse backgrounds share their personal challenges and growth.
Complete the most popular and proven relationship inventory to assess your strengths and potential areas of growth as a couple. (Prepare-Enrich inventory)
This class is designed with an understanding that the great value in considering what marriage involves can serve dating couples who have a mutual desire and comfort in exploring future considerations of marriage, those engaged to be married, and those who may have begun their married life but did not have an opportunity for such a class. The class is offered by the Westside Vineyard Church, a contemporary ‘come as you are’ Christ-centered church in the West Los Angeles area, and is open to all regardless of spiritual background.
The next class will begin on Sunday, February 26. The class generally meets for a two hour session on Sunday afternoons for seven consecutive weeks.
The class meets at Westside Vineyard / Coffee Connection facility located at 3838 S. Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, 90066.
The cost of the course is $120 for each couple and simply covers the cost of the materials that are included in the class – a notebook of weekly materials for each person, one textbook for reading, and two workbooks.

Frequently Asked Questions:
We are interested in the class but due to our schedules, at least one of us will not be able to attend all the classes. What should we do?
It's common to have at least one week in which one or both partners may not be able to attend. Some have even had a partner who is out of the area or has common weekend travel. As one can imagine with the nature of a class on relating...we recommend making every effort to attend as many sessions together as possible. We also understand that some conflicts cannot be overcome. We have created videos of the class sessions as a means of providing a way for those unable to be at a class session to still learn from what is shared. We also highly recommend that if only one partner can attend, they still do so.
We see that this class is provided by a church. One or both of us don't identify ourselves as "Christian"....so will it be a good fit for us?
The class is absolutely open to all regardless of what background in beliefs one may have. It is based on a Biblical / Christ-centered view of marriage in terms of dealing with the meaning of marriage, Christ’s call to mutual serving, etc… and we often open or close with a short prayer. Most people tend to appreciate that some deeper and spiritual consideration is given to the matters of marriage. Everyone who has participated in this class, even if they did not share a Christian faith, has seemed to feel comfortable, respected, and free to be open. (For those unfamiliar with the "Vineyard" as a church, it may be helpful to note that people who participate in the Vineyard church come from a diversity of backgrounds. They know we will stay rooted in the God-centered life and teachings of Christ while being less traditional in our forms of expression.) However, if one finds that drawing some principles from the Bible or the role of spiritual life is unfitting or even offensive, then we could imagine that this class may not be comfortable. If there is any way we can help clarify further, we appreciate the sensitivity to such matters and would be glad to try and clarify further.
What if we are older than many who are first getting married... and / or one or both of us have been married before....and even may already have children... will this class still be relevant?
We are respectful that those who may be older or previously married will have already developed more insight and maturity in aspects of what life and marriage involves. However, many have found that this class has still provided plenty of healthy wisdom and helped clarify what will make a difference from past patterns.
Is this class open to same-sex couples?
Our desire to love and enjoy conversing with all people leads us to limit engaging in the "politics of sexuality." However, we do believe that marriage is by nature the joining together in the unique complimentary nature of a man and a woman and therefore reserve this class for such partnering.
Grow in Rediscovering the Art of Neighboring
through the Vineyard Host a Holiday Party Challenge!
WE’RE ENCOURAGING EVERYONE TO CONSIDER HOSTING A SIMPLE HOLIDAY PARTY FOR IMMEDIATE NEIGHBORS! HERE ARE SOME PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS:
- Define the most natural group of 6 to 30 households around you.
- Pick a date on the first couple weekend in December.
- Often a simple cider and desert gathering in the afternoon / early evening allows a more open drop-in freedom.
- Use the term “holiday” rather than Christmas
- Keep it simple… it can help everyone feel more real and relaxed.
- A great way to build relationship in the process is to ask one or two neighbors about the idea and then if interested... put it on together.
- Purpose: to get to know your neighbors and learn to love them…
Thursday, November 23, Thanksgiving Day

Most of our lives are moving at a frantic pace these days and even though we are surrounded by supposed "time saving devices", we are working harder, sleeping less and feeling more dissatisfied in our relationships than ever. Unfortunately, the first relationship that bears the brunt of our busyness is our marriages.
Let’s stop and take a breather!
Take a TIME OUT-A short intermission- and come to Couple’s Café on November 10th at 7:00p.m. for a reminder via video of the Purpose of Marriage with author and pastor Tim Keller. We’ll also take a moment during our TIME OUT to look back and remember why we chose each other.
No need to register, just come on November 10th at 7:00pm. in the sanctuary.
However, if you need childcare...sign up in the lobby after service, or on the vineyard app, or on the link provided below. Cost is $10 per child and $5 for each additional child.
A source for growing through the common challenges of marriage. There is a difference between being married and building a marriage. The Couple's Cafe' is an every-other-month gathering geared to give you an opportunity to invest in your marriage. All couples are invited!
For those newer to the Vineyard who are desiring to explore or establish deeper connection and commitment, we encourage you to join us for this class which provides an overview of who we are, who we are called to become and how we move forward in embracing our calling as a church community. Childcare is free if you register by the previous Sunday.
- Why we exist
- The bigger picture of what the Vineyard is about
- What God has called us to be (our vision)
- How You can be a meaningful part of God's calling in this time and place
You also will be able to freely ask questions concerning these and other topics.
The class allows you the opportunity to meet the entire Westside Vineyard staff and several key leaders.
A Man’s Calling
A special morning for men to gather… and grow. Men today still carry the desire to be heroes…but can feel less clear about their purpose and place. But our original call is still at hand…because God created man for greatness…and to care of the world. Dr Tony Evans, by video, brings this call to bear in a dynamic fashion. Tony Evans is considered one the most influential voices today. He is a pastor, speaker, best-selling author, and has served as chaplain for the NFL's Dallas Cowboys and NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.
The larger gatherings of the church provide a unique spiritual connection...as we join our voices in worship and hear God’s Word speak to us. However, the relational connection that we need to truly connect and grow, is what small groups are all about.
CONNECT . EXPLORE . GROW
Life. It is what God gives and we share together. Life Groups are where you will CONNECT with others and GROW in life rooted and flowing from God. Life Groups are not designed to simply be a social group…nor an academic study of the Bible. Life Groups are for those who know that growth requires change... and change involves personal exploration as well as supportive partners. Groups begin with larger group connection and a focus on God’s presence (worship) …and then, generally in smaller sets of 3 or 4, focus on how God is personally speaking to us through the Scriptures and forming His love in us.
While most of our groups are structured as Life Groups, we also have groups for special focuses. You will find all groups listed here. The choice to take the next step to connect and grow is yours. We believe it is one of the most valuable steps you will take.

Get involved with The Learning ZONE / Mar Vista MEGA Garage Sale
The Learning ZONE / Mar Vista MEGA Garage Sale will be held Saturday, May 6, from 8am-1pm in partnership with the Mar Vista Community Council and entire Mar Vista community.
Last year, we surpassed our extremely ambitious goal of raising $10,000 over the Garage Sale weekend through sales and donations. Our goal once again this year is to raise $10,000 to assist with ongoing Learning ZONE operations, which includes an upgrade to sophisticated web-based Math & English foundational curriculum, educational field trips and pursuing broader fundraising efforts to ultimately expand the Learning ZONE scope and student roster.
There are four ways you can help:
- PRAY for the Learning ZONE and the event!
- HOST your own Garage Sale on Saturday, May 6 and dedicate all proceeds to the Learning ZONE.
- DONATE some quality unwanted items to the Learning ZONE sale. You can drop those off at "Garage Sale Headquarters" (North / Youth Lot) any time Friday, May 5, between 12pm-8pm.
- VOLUNTEER! We need volunteers on Friday, May 5, from 12pm-8pm to help receive, sort and prepare all of the donations for the sale. We also need a great number of volunteers on the day of the event, Saturday, May 6, from 6am-3pm, to assist with event set-up and tear-down, serve as security, cashiers, sales attendants, maintenance and other positions vital for a successful event.
If you are interested in serving in any way, please contact Learning ZONE Director Ron Petronicolos at 323.839.7738 or Ron@WestsideLearningZONE.com
